Junior Designer

We are looking for a conscientious, creative, and motivated Junior Designer to join us in creating elevated brands and websites for our mission-driven clients.

About Us

Victoria & Co. is a brand and website design company working primarily with women-owned businesses and passionate entrepreneurs. Founded in 2020, we bring 12+ years of experience working within world-renowned organizations such as Harvard and Oxfam to uplift our clients’ overall brand and digital presence. We partner with brands whose passions include sustainable fashion, home & garden, creative services, nonprofit, health & wellness, and other conscious offerings, and empower them through a well-organized, strategic, and thoughtful brand and website design process.

About You

We’re seeking a junior designer that has an elevated, professional aesthetic, fresh ideas, and excellent communication skills. This role is meant for designers who are in the early stages of their career (1-3 years of experience) and looking to get great hands-on experience designing brands and websites for top-tier women-owned businesses.

This is a part-time, fully remote position. We expect about 10-15 hours per week to start, with the possibility to grow!

Needless to say, you should be a good human, with a sense of justice as well as a sense of humor. We don’t take ourselves too seriously, but we do take our work seriously. An open mind is a must!

Key Responsibilities

  • Support visual brand design process, including custom logo design

  • Conducting research on client brands and industries in order to understand their competition as well as get design inspiration

  • Help prepare client presentations, including proposals, brand strategy, brand concept, website strategy, and brand guidelines

  • Implementing design refinements (size changes, text changes, etc.)

  • Web design support (typically the creative director will design the home page any other key pages, and the Jr Designer may assist in building out the remaining pages) 

  • Selecting color palettes for designs and sourcing fonts 

  • Exporting files as needed for clients

  • Create social media templates and launch announcement graphics for our clients

  • Support website development, including content migration and testing

  • Post-launch website maintenance including content, design, and some development

  • Create graphics for in-house social media and email campaigns

  • Updating our studio website with new portfolio work as needed

Compensation & Perks

  • Compensation range is $25-35 per hour, based on experience and skill level.

  • $500 quarterly stipend for continuing education and professional development (which could be rolled up for a one-time $2,000 annual stipend!) *eligible after the first 90 days.

  • Mentoring & tutoring in website strategy, brand strategy, project management, and Squarespace/Shopify custom development

  • Learn along with us! We currently specialize in Squarespace and Shopify, but we are hoping to learn Webflow over the next year.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of experience in design

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Illustrator, InDesign and XD, as well as Canva.

  • Experience with Squarespace and Shopify

  • Basic knowledge of CSS and HTML is a plus

  • Strong knowledge of digital design principles and best practices

  • You must have your own laptop, monitor, and equipment

  • This role is a part-time employee role. You must be available to be employed by our company and legally eligible to work in the United States.
