Latest Launch: The Design Salon Index

Let’s set the scene:

The Client: A talented group of women, all of whom are creative business owners, have been meeting to share their knowledge and insight since 2006. They called themselves the Design Salon and they were artists, makers, and creatives who have built strong brands and established themselves as professionals - but loved to get together over a glass of wine and talk shop. This group is led by Jill Rosenwald (of the namesake pottery brand) and Jill Palese of C2A Clothing.

The Problem: While they had a glowing reputation in the Boston area, the only digital footprint they had was an old Blogger website. (We’re not joking, scroll down to see the “Before”). They felt the need to solidify and legitimize their organization, while wanting to influence the reputation of the creative community in Boston more broadly. They didn’t know where to start but knew they needed a website, stat.

The Solution: To address their specifications, we set out to create a brand and website they could be proud to share with their members and with the community at large. We started by establishing their website strategy and then curated their creative direction with a mood board:

Then, we applied a color palette and typography suite inspired by that moodboard to a homepage design. This provided a vibrant look and feel that was also streamlined and simple.

We built out the website on Squarespace, because we knew that an intuitive, easy-to-use website platform was important for the client. To build out the directory, we used the blog feature and tagged each listing with the appropriate category, making it possible to filter the list by creative type. Targeted custom coding allowed us to provide a unique user experience. We applied basic Search Engine Optimization (SEO) to the website and tested to ensure it’s easy to view on mobile, as well as on desktop or tablet.

The final product is now LIVE at designsalonindex.com - take a look and browse their incredible network of creatives around the Boston area.
